NISSAN 16403-59EXM Fuel Filter

The primary function of the genuine NISSAN fuel filter, part number 16403-59EXM, is to protect the internal combustion engine's fuel supply system. It filters out microscopic solid contaminants (such as rust particles, dust, and sediment) from the fuel delivered from the tank and separates condensation moisture, thereby protecting the injection system, high-pressure pump, and high-precision fuel injectors from wear, corrosion, and mechanical failure.

Operational Significance and Failure Symptoms

A worn, clogged filter element creates increased flow resistance, which can lead to insufficient fuel delivery to the cylinders. Regular filter replacement is essential to maintain factory engine performance parameters, smooth combustion, and the intended service life.

Common symptoms of a clogged or failing fuel filter include:

• Difficult starting or prolonged cranking
• Engine hesitation or jerking during acceleration or sudden load changes
• Noticeable loss of engine power, particularly in higher RPM ranges
• Rough or unstable idling and tendency to stall
• Diagnostic trouble codes related to fuel pressure issues (Check Engine light)
• Increased fuel consumption caused by an irregular injection spray pattern
